Conversation with Brownsville NYCHA & Poplar HARCA

On March 6th, we had the opportunity to host a second learning session with the Poplar HARCA team, NYCHA TA, Lawrence Heights, executives, and others. The HARCA community is geographically similar to Brownsville, consisting of 1 square mile of highly concentrated public housing. The HARCA group was able to put into action an initiative for youth, jobs, a variety of businesses, and homeownership, and these are the things that Brownsville continues to implement into its community. HARCA was also able to regenerate an initiative that required the resident to vote on through resident participation in the planning and governance phase, unanimously assisted them in establishing the Poplar HARCA board.
